The nonprofit organization Missouri Pathfinders spearheaded the efforts to design and complete this state-sanctioned memorial honoring disabled veterans. Located inside Veterans Memorial Park in Union, MO, the memorial is all-encompassing — it honors all branches of military service and all disabled veterans in communities across Franklin County and beyond.
Missouri Pathfinders selected Cochran to design the memorial. Cochran worked with the committee to develop Community Funding packets with renderings, information and cost estimates.
The memorial was designed based on the information gathered from the committee on key elements that needed to be incorporated. Some of these elements were the pentagon shape, stadium, seating, flags, granite memorial plaques, and branches of the military. With the focus of the memorial for Disabled Veterans, all elements are handicap accessible and connected directly to the handicap-accessible parking area.
