Testing and Inspection

AASHTO Accreditation Program

Many of Cochran’s clients have the need for third-party quality management, testing and inspection services during the construction of their projects. Cochran has a designated staff of professional engineers and qualified technicians who conduct field inspection & testing and lab analysis & testing services to ensure project specifications are met during the construction phase.  Our professional engineers bring years of experience working at and with MoDOT.  Our staff has demonstrated success in managing federally funded projects for a variety of municipal and MoDOT clients with our experience and technical expertise to understand the regulations and requirements of each project.

The AASHTO Accreditation Program (AAP) was established in 1988 as a means of formally recognizing the competence of testing laboratories to perform specific tests on construction materials. AAP is a voluntary program that is available to all testing laboratories including government, commercial, university, and research facilities. There are over 1,800 individual laboratories that are currently accredited through AAP, making it the largest accrediting body of construction materials testing laboratories. AAP utilizes laboratory assessment and proficiency sample services provided by the AASHTO Materials Reference Laboratory (AMRL) and the Cement and Concrete Reference Laboratory (CCRL). AMRL provides administrative coordination and technical support for AAP. The program accredits for over 650 AASHTO, ASTM, or state standards.

WHAT SETS COCHRAN APART?
Cochran operates two AASHTO-accredited labs – one at our headquarters in Union, Missouri and one at our office in Wentzville, Missouri. Both are under the direction of professional engineers and trained full-time Cochran technicians. We do not use second- or third-party testing agencies to meet our clients’ needs.  Cochran has a designated staff of professional engineers and qualified technicians who conduct field inspection & material testing to ensure project specifications are met during the construction phase.  Our labs are AASHTO accredited, our technicians are MoDOT, NICET certified and have ACI registered to provide all facets of pavement and bridge construction quality control.  We are able to perform site testing, laboratory testing and reporting (CRE2O) required by MoDOT Quality Management.  Our team will listen and respond to your project needs to achieve a cost-effective, quality project.
