Old Highway 21 Construction

Bend Road Realignment & Bridge Replacement – BRM-9900(638)

Cochran partnered with the City of Pacific and Franklin County to deliver a transformative transportation improvement project that enhanced safety, connectivity, and long-term reliability along Bend Road. The project replaced the historic 1916 one-lane Bend Road Bridge over the Meramec River with a modern 468-foot, three-span steel plate girder bridge and included approximately 1,000 feet of roadway realignment to eliminate a hazardous curve at the bridge approach.

Our team successfully navigated complex environmental and cultural resource requirements, including protections for sensitive mussel habitats and bat populations, while ensuring full compliance with MoDOT Local Public Agency (LPA) standards for federally funded projects.

Cochran secured more than $3.4 million in Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation (BRM) funding to help make the project a reality. The bridge and roadway improvements were completed with no engineering change orders, demonstrating the value of thorough planning, quality design, and proactive project management.
