The City of De Soto in Jefferson County, Missouri, is located approximately 45 miles south of St. Louis. De Soto is located in one of the fastest growing counties. The city is named for the explorer Hernando De Soto, who claimed the Louisiana Territory for Spain. Cochran has partnered with the City of De Soto for over 10 years serving as their City Engineer providing support in the review and approval of design and construction of public and private design of infrastructure, including sewer, water, transportation, and stormwater. The city is known as “City of Pride”.
Transportation Projects:
Cochran performed the federally funded STP enhancement project on Main Street in the City of De Soto. Surface Transportation Program (STP) provides flexible funding that may be used by localities for projects to preserve and improve the conditions on any public road and pedestrian infrastructure. Cochran performed the application, surveying, engineering design, bidding documents, and construction inspection services. Part of the improvements were including ramps that met the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Standards for Accessible Design. The project included the removal of improvements, excavation, ADA ramps, 38,862 square feet of sidewalks, 4,073 linear feet of concrete curb and gutter, 5,492 square feet of 7” thick concrete driveway approaches, 675 linear feet of storm sewer, and new landscaping.
Since this project was federally funded, all construction documents were required to meet standards for project delivery as outlined in MoDOT’s Local Public Agency (LPA) manual. The project was completed in the spring of 2012 for the City of De Soto, Missouri.
Cochran performed the federally funded STP roadway rehabilitation project on Boyd Street in the City of De Soto. The project included the application, surveying, engineering design, bidding documents, and construction inspection services for Boyd Street. It also included removal of improvements, excavation, ADA ramps, 20,989 square feet of sidewalks, 3,199 linear feet of concrete curb and gutter, 8,712 linear feet of 7” thick concrete driveway approaches, 10,204 square feet of storm sewer repair; 2,689 tons of asphalt paving, signage, and sodding. Since this project was federally funded, all construction documents were required to meet standards for project delivery as outlined in MoDOT’s Local Public Agency (LPA) manual. The project was completed in the spring of 2013 for the City of De Soto, Missouri.
