Client – City of Wentzville Park Department
Located in Western St. Charles County, Wentzville is one of the fastest growing cities in Missouri. The City’s Parks and Recreation Department provides many opportunities for people of all ages through its 10 parks. Cochran has enjoyed a long history with the City. For their newest park, Peruque Valley, Cochran proudly provided value engineering, bidding services, testing, inspection, and construction management services.
Peruque Valley Park is located along South Point Prairie Road adjacent to Peruque Creek. Cochran was employed to analyze the existing design and provide value engineering and bidding services for an estimated $5.5 million-dollar park. Through competitive bidding and multiple bid packages, Cochran was able to assist the City of Wentzville to bid, award and construct the park for approximately $4.5 million dollars while providing a larger air-conditioned and heated concession stand. The park had a mass grading quantity of over 126,000 c.y. of earth to be moved.
The $4.5 million-dollar park is located in a predominate flood plain area and consists of 4 baseball fields, 3 practice fields, heated and cooled concession stand, trail systems and stormwater management features including rain gardens and wet pond systems. The fully heated and cooled concession stand features men’s, women’s and family restrooms, full kitchen, pavilions on three sides and is fully ADA accessible. Construction completed in 2016.
Future development plans include outdoor classrooms, paved backbone trail, natural trails, picnic shelters, creek overlooks, playgrounds, additional ball fields, lake/boardwalk, adventure areas, and environmental meadows.
