Old Manchester Road, Phase II Improvements – STP-5401(662)

Cochran partnered with the City of Wildwood to deliver the second phase of the Old Manchester Road Streetscape, a federally funded corridor improvement project designed to enhance safety, connectivity, sustainability, and community character. The project reconstructed a 0.51-mile section of roadway, transforming the corridor into a more accessible and visually appealing route for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.

Improvements included full-depth pavement replacement, new asphalt pavement, stamped and red-tinted concrete pavement, ADA-compliant ramps, more than 31,000 square feet of sidewalk, and a new bicycle lane to improve multimodal access throughout the corridor. The project also incorporated decorative streetlighting, landscaping, pavement striping, and 80 new street trees with cast iron tree grates, reinforcing the City’s vision for a welcoming and cohesive streetscape.

To address stormwater management and water quality needs, Cochran designed seven bioretention basins and a hydrodynamic separator, integrating sustainable infrastructure into the roadway improvements. Our team also coordinated utility relocations, permitting through the Metropolitan Sewer District, surveying, engineering design, and preparation of bidding documents in accordance with federal STP project requirements.

The Old Manchester Road Streetscape Phase 2 project reflects Cochran’s ability to deliver complex transportation and streetscape improvements that balance function, aesthetics, environmental responsibility, and long-term community value.
