West Park Road Bridge Replacement – BRM-6201(605)

Cochran partnered with the City of Union to replace the West Park Road Bridge, delivering a modern transportation structure that improves public safety, enhances hydraulic performance, and reduces long-term maintenance requirements. Funded through the Federal Bridge Replacement Program, the project modernized a critical transportation link while providing a more resilient and efficient crossing for the community.

Cochran provided comprehensive project services, including surveying, geotechnical engineering, bridge and roadway design, bidding documents, construction administration, inspection, and materials testing. Designed in accordance with MoDOT Local Public Agency (LPA) requirements, the project included bridge replacement, roadway reconstruction, utility relocation, sidewalk and ADA accessibility improvements, pavement rehabilitation, stormwater-related work, and complete site restoration.

A defining feature of the project was Cochran’s custom bridge design. Rather than utilizing a traditional box culvert with intermediate supports, our engineers designed a 30-foot clear-span reinforced concrete slab bridge that eliminates obstructions within the stream channel. This innovative approach improves hydraulic capacity, minimizes debris accumulation during storm events, reduces long-term maintenance costs, and provides a more environmentally sensitive crossing.
