Cochran partnered with the City of Washington to replace the Westlink Industrial Drive Bridge, a vital transportation link serving the Westlink Industrial Park and the manufacturers that rely on it for daily operations. The project was driven by the need to accommodate exceptionally heavy transformer loads transported weekly to a nearby rail facility, ensuring local industries could continue operating efficiently and supporting the region’s economic vitality.

Recognizing the unique demands of the corridor, Cochran designed a replacement bridge with a load-carrying capacity exceeding standard HS20 requirements. Through advanced structural analysis and specialized bridge design, the new structure was engineered to safely support oversized industrial transport vehicles while providing long-term durability and reliability.

As the lead engineering consultant, Cochran delivered comprehensive services including surveying, geotechnical engineering, bridge and roadway design, utility coordination, bidding assistance, construction administration, inspection, and materials testing. The project also included roadway reconstruction, utility relocations, deep foundation systems, prestressed concrete bridge construction, guardrails, erosion protection, and pavement improvements, creating a fully modernized transportation corridor.
