Boyd Street Elevated Water Storage Tank
Cochran partnered with the City of De Soto to modernize a critical component of its water distribution system through the replacement of the Boyd Street Elevated Water Storage Tank. The project replaced an aging 100,000-gallon elevated water tank with a new 500,000-gallon composite elevated water storage tank, significantly increasing available storage capacity and providing a more durable, cost-effective solution for long-term operations. To help the City identify the best value for its investment, multiple tank styles and capacities were evaluated during the design and bidding process.
In addition to the water tower replacement, Cochran coordinated the relocation of existing cellular communications equipment and designed integrated systems to accommodate antenna installations on the new structure. The project also required careful planning for the demolition of the existing lead-based paint-coated tank, utility improvements, easement preparation, and coordination with multiple telecommunications providers.
Cochran provided comprehensive services throughout the project, including surveying, geotechnical engineering, water system modeling, water quality analysis, site design, specifications, construction administration, testing, and inspection. Completed in 2016, the project delivered a modern, resilient water storage facility that enhances system performance, improves operational efficiency, and provides reliable service for the City of De Soto for decades to come.
